Tintin The Rescue Dog From Lakeland Fl

This is Tintin from Lakeland. She is a mix breed, rescue, that is 1 ½ years old. Tintin’s owner signed her up for our 6 week basic program to teach her some manners as well as work on her dog aggression.
In the 6 weeks that I worked with her I have seen a great improvement in all aspects of her training…but most importantly in her aggression issue. She used to go off barking at any dog that would walk by within 30 feet or so…now she will stay nicely in a heel.
She is still not fully comfortable around other dogs, but she is on the right track to a bright future, with time and practice she will get to that point! Tintin has grown in leaps and bounds and I know she will continue to do well!

Doggie Boot Camp Mimi The Toy Poodle
“This is Mimi, a toy poodle from Mulberry FL.. She is 1 year old and is enrolled in our 8 week Boot Camp program with ‘Place’. I work with Mimi 3 times a week and have seen her gain a lot of confidence and learn quickly! Mimi was rescued, about 2 months ago, from a home that didn’t give
her enough attention or exercise….because of that treatment, or lack thereof, she is very timid and also gets extremely excited when people come in the room, so much so that she pee’s on the floor.
We are working to build up her confidence, and spend time with her so that she won’t feel the need to get so overly excited and pee. On our fourth week I have already seen a big difference! She no longer pee’s every time I touch her and she is learning to be a well-adjusted pet!”

Dog Friendly Vacations:
Summer is Coming Don’t Forget Your Dog!
Summer vacation is coming what are going to do? I mean with your dog. Many times I have clients call me the week they leave for vacation to ask me what they should do with their dog or what kennel is best. Everyone is so busy now days that their dogs get pushed to the back burner. Planning ahead will make a huge difference in the amount of stress you will have right before you leave for summer vacation.

Image via Wikipedia
Today I am going to give you some tips on having a great summer vacation with or without your dog. Now I know that some folks will say that putting a dog in a kennel not the right thing to do but I look at it as a personal preference. Some people plan their vacation around their dog’s others don’t. Don’t feel guilty either way. It’s your vacation and more importantly it’s your dog, do what’s right for you.
The first thing you need to do is decide if you want to bring your dog along on your vacation. If you decide to do that then here is a list of things you may want to consider. Prepare your dog by pre-training before you leaveStart looking now for dog friendly hotels and motels. Find an emergency vet in the area you’ll be staying.
Doing some pre-training before you leave will help your dog to be ready to listen and behave well while you’re gone. Just a half an hour a few times a week reviewing your obedience and working on distractions will go a long way to making sure your dog will be on his best behavior. Get online and look for dog friendly hotels ahead of time. Don’t wait for the last minute. Remember to ask about insurance should something happen. Find an emergency veterinarian in the area around where you will be staying so that you know who to call and where to go if something bad happens.
If you’re going to leave your dog in a kennel start looking now. Ask friends or local veterinarians if they have someone they recommend. Do some research and if possible take a drive and see what the place is all about. Here are some things to consider when you get there.
- Is the place clean?
- Do you hear a lot of unnecessary barking?
- Do they take the dogs out of their runs to play in a paddock area during the day?
What you smell can or better yet what you don’t smell can tell you volumes about a kennel. If the place smells of urine and stool then chances are they don’t clean that often and that means you move to the next kennel on your list. Incessant barking adds stress to all the dogs involved. If they don’t control the problem your dog could end up not eating or sleeping well and that can lead to weight loss and lower immunities. Not having a chance for fresh air and to get extra energy out can cause your dog to develop bad habits.
Things like excessive barking, jumping and chewing stem can be caused by staying in a constant state of frustration. Exercise can bleed off some of the stress and frustration and allow your dog to relax. No matter how you end up doing things just remember plan ahead and use some common sense.
Have a great summer and if your dog needs a tune up before you leave make sure you give us a call. We have programs to meet all of your training needs.

This picture is why I love working outside, the neighbors horses decided to follow us around while we did our obedience. Great distraction!Tatonka went off on them when they approached but after a few corrections he realized that they weren’t so scary after all

Winter Haven Puppy
Cheyenne’s Food Aggression Problem
Meet Cheyenne, a beatiful 3 year old Siberian Husky. She is currently in training for a little help on some problems she is
having with guarding food on the ground that she believes is hers. The most important thing to do is to communicate in a way that Cheyenne can understand that there is no reason for her to do this behavior and it is not acceptable any longer. Through some new rules around the house and a couple of good training sessions, Cheyenne is doing so much better and her Mommy is very pleased with her as well.

He’s obedience is better then I could ask but, he is a little insecure and needs some socialization so, in this picture we visited the park and I would use his surroundings as an obstacle course and he was a champ!

Lillie the Service Dog from Land O’ Lakes

This is Lillie from Land O’Lakes. She’s a service dog for Lois who has a hard time getting around! although lillie was already doing retrieval work for Lois, she needed her obedience to be tweaked when she was out on public! That day we went to K mart and she did very well most of her issue that needed worked out was she constantly would reach out and explore the products of the store instead of focusing on Lois! By the end of the lesson she was starting to get the idea of what is expected of her and I have faith that she will turn out beautifully!

Tampa Client -Meet Gigi Adams and Lula

This is Gigi Adams. She is the French bulldog on the left. Her older sister is lula. I trained lula a couple years ago on an 8 week basic obedience with place option.
When Gigi came home she was like every other puppy. She had to learn not to use the bathroom in the house, and about the house rules.
Gigi’s parents decided to go with our 8 week boot camp program.I go to there house 3 times a week and train her and they just reinforce what she has learned. Lula has helped me train her by just being well trained herself!
In this picture she is helping her go to place and stay there.
